Kids on a Bridge is an organization dedicated to exploring the farthest reaches of the universe, both macro and micro, external and internal. Our members reach out and gather up information, converting it back down to sounds, so that it reaches the ears of those who would otherwise be deaf to its beauty. We are children full of hope and wonder as we stand on the bridge between worlds.

 

It Was Time to Leave is our debut project, the combined sensor data of a generation ship from a parallel world. Internal, external, bio-monitoring and ship’s log data have been combined to transport the listener along with the ship and crew through the cold of space and that most ancient enemy distance. 

 

It is the drowsy childhood car ride home, it is the late night train out of town, it is the soft descent into sleep on a long flight writ large. At once a feeling of isolation and comfort. Solar winds pelt the sail with photons like hot raindrops, gravitational waves lap at the hull, radiation and cosmic rays kept at bay by the hull as the crew winds down for their long sleep.

Organizational Dossier (obtained by FOIA  request from Dept. of XXXXX-XXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX)

 

Group Name: Kids on a Bridge (KoaB)

 

Founded: Estimated 19XX, in XXXXXXX California (though recent group manipulation of XXXX XXXXX may have rendered traditional dating methods irrelevant).

 

Membership: Precise membership of core group is unknown, but is estimated to be between 3 and 9 individuals residing in our XXXXX (XXXX, XX, Earth, XXXXX). Extra-XXXXXX membership may extend far beyond that. Release notes from KoaB make claims of extra-XXXXXX origin for a vast majority of their projects, but this has yet to be conclusively corroborated. 

 

Origin: KoaB claims to have begun as a collaborative effort between the practitioners of several disparate scientific, artistic, and occult disciplines, with the stated goal of “grasping points of understanding from the infinite”. The group began distributing newsletters shortly after formation in 19XX, with ads placed in various XXXXXXXXXX magazines directing interested parties to contact a PO Box for subscription. Newsletters moved to distribution from an unregistered server in 20XX. At around this time KoaB began releasing material (this closely coincided with INC #508-B XXX, which many in the department have speculated may be related to KoaB XXXXXX experimentation). 

 

Below is an excerpt from the notes accompanying this their first release:

“…through our contact on XXXXX 12. What they bring us is their own extra-XXXXXX recording of unknown origin (XXXXX 12 has been recording extra-XXXXXX information for 12 years longer than we have, incredible!) from an Earth adjacent  XXXXXXXX. 

It Was Time to Leave is a gestalt rendering of the sensors, both  internal and external, of a generation ship leaving their homeworld to escape an undefined but impending collapse. This has of course been rendered (as all extra-XXXXXX information must be) into an audio format for consumption in this XXXXX. As usual please attempt to listen to this after a period of …”

 

As it is clear to see, extra-XXXXXX communication has long been claimed as a cornerstone of the audio artifacts distributed by KoaB. Whether this is true, or simply an artistic exaggeration, is yet to be determined, but their knowledge of extra-XXXXXX activity lends credence to the former.

 

Follow Up: Thorough analysis has determined It Was Time to Leave to be free of extra-XXXXXX scientific information, weaponized memes, vengeful XXXXXX, exotic economic systems, or XXXXXXXXX. It is therefore the recommendation of this committee to refrain from interference in this release, but to maintain observation on this group and all future releases. Agents assigned are as follows….
